I wrote this poem on the night of 22nd march 2010. The night when I left the golden teenage and entered adulthood.
I am 20 Folks
I am done with the Ringa Roses,
In the weird poses.
I am done with the wonder,
Of the twinkling stars,
I know now what they are.
Burning Spheres now i can see,
Diamonds they are no more for me.
Papa no more asks Johnny,
To open his mouth, the sugar to see.
Birthdays with many candles
And home made cakes,
Are replaced with
Penniless treats and Monginise bakes.
Games like chasing and Hide & Seek which we played,
Are now history......
Indulged in the understanding,
of Maturity we are, as if it is a mystery.
But the responsibility filled adulthood,
Has its own pleasures too.....
As no one tells us now,
What to do and, what not to do.
Learn from all and teach a few,
That’s the age 20 for you.
The joy of adulthood,
in my growing heart
And the pain of teenage,
Which I just had to depart.
With the mixed emotions having an impact,
No going back being the fact,
I surrender myself to the greater age,
Of adult maturity but with no fun of teenage.
Happy Birthday to myself
And have a good night.
Oh my God I am 20 tonight…..
